   Learn to Make WAD Sprays
This is the way to make the sprays the good ol' "Wally" way, there are easier ways available now, this tutorial is only if you're making sprays for Counter-Strike versions pre-Source. (alternate method at the bottom of this page)
Using Wally, step-by-step
First of all, you will need a program that can resize your picture to a specific size.  I use Microsoft Photodraw 2000 V2, other programs that will work are Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop.  Windows Paint Shop will not work.  First of all you need to size your picture to the proper size.  The sizes I use are 64 x 128, 128 x 64, 64 x 64, 256 x 32, and 32 x 32 pixels.  (see chart at bottom of page for all spray sizes)

(Window from Microsoft Photoshop 2000 V2)

Once you've finished putting your spray together, you need to save it as a BMP

(Window from Microsoft Photoshop 2000 V2)

Next you will need to open the program Wally.  In Wally, select FILE>NEW and select 'Half-Life Package [wad3] (.wad)' for Type.

(Window from Wally)

Then select FILE > OPEN and locate your previously saved BMP.  When you open this BMP, it will appear in a different window.  Right-click on the picture and choose COPY from the menu, then right-click on your other open window (the tan one) and select PASTE AS NEW from the menu.

(Window from Wally)

Once you have the picture pasted into your workspace (the tan area), you can close the previous window (the window you copied from).  Then double-click on the picture in your workspace to re-open it.

(Window from Wally)

Next you will want to go to COLORS > EDIT PALETTE (on the top menu) and in that window you will need to select the bottom right color (the lightest color) and change the values on the left to 0,0,255. Notice the image below, the values read top to bottom are 255, 0, 0, 255.  Click OK.

(Window from Wally)

Now you may notice some of the pixels in the picture have turned BLUE.  If none of them changed, don't worry, go on to the next step.  If they did change, all you need to do is select the pencil tool, and using the colors to the right, you can color the pixels back to their original colors.  Any pixels you leave or color 'bright blue' will be transparent in the game.

(Window from Wally)

When you are done editing the blue out of your picture, you can close that window and it will ask you if you wish to save your changes, click YES.  Then all you need to do is select FILE > SAVE, save the file, and name it PLDECAL.  That PLDECAL file is your spray and to use it, all you need to do is place it into your CSTRIKE folder, see Installation Directions for more detail.

Alternate Method to creating sprays:
 - Do CTL+C on the picture that you want as your spray
 - Open Wally 1.55b and select: Wizard/HL Color Decal
 - Click on the "..." in the bar asking where your Half-Life folder is;
primarily C:\Sierra\Half-life
 - Select the Half-Life modification you want your spray to appear on; ex:
cstrike, valve (Half-Life), Darkstar, etc
 - If you did the first step, then use the "clipboard" as your source, then
click "Ok"
 - All you have to do is File\Save As... and the destination is already set
for the correct folder, so just hit ok.
 - IF YOUR PICTURE IS SCRAMBLED, JUST CLICK ON THE PIC ONCE. That should clear it up.
